Ever been diagnosed with high blood pressure & prescribed medication? Surprised to learn this actually masks the “warning sign” that your body is trying to tell you?
Before we go any further, let’s back up a minute.
How your body works:
The brain controls everything. It sends energy down the spinal cord like a river of signals. This energy then branches out to the 31 pairs of spinal nerve roots, that exit between each one of our vertebrae.
These nerves then branch off and divide and further divide until they wrap all around your body. The nerves connect to every single cell, tissue, and organ throughout your body. Right now as you read this, your heart is beating, your lungs are breathing, and all of this is being controlled by your nerves; the ones that branched off from your spinal cord, the same ones that depend on your spine to protect them like a boney armor.
Where things go wrong
With different traumas and stresses in your life, the bones of the spine can shift out of their normal position. These shifts are called subluxations.
These create interference with these vital nerve signals. They decrease the energy coming from the spinal cord, flowing into the spinal nerve roots, and getting through the rest of the body. So let’s say that there is a subluxation in the spine, where the nerves exit that eventually lead to the stomach. How do you think the stomach would function if the nerve supply leading to it was compromised? Do you think that the stomach would function very well? Maybe you would suffer from acid reflux, an ulcer?
The Posture Correction
When the bones of the spine shift and misalign, this weakens regions of the spine, causing the posture to shift and distort. These are called postural distortions. These postural distortions then stretch and distort and deform the spinal cord, further inhibiting the energy and the function of this structure to keep all of your organs alive and healthy.
“My Posture Isn’t Great, What Do I Do?”
The only way to know if you have a subluxation is to be properly assessed. A Gonstead Chiropractor has been thoroughly trained in being able to specifically detect these problems in the body.
